Olentangy Trail – Worthington Hills Extension

CITY OF COLUMBUS RECREATION AND PARKS DEPARTMENT

The City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department extended the popular Olentangy Trail, connecting through the Olentangy Valley Shopping Center to the community of Worthington Hills. The project was funded by the Ohio Department of Transportation. Because the nearby Olentangy River is a state designated scenic waterway, the project included Scenic Rivers Coordination to develop a strategy for mitigating impacts to riparian vegetation along the Olentangy River corridor. L&A led public outreach for the project. Public involvement activities included a public open house as well as separate small group meetings with a civic association, a condominium association, trustees from two townships, and the shopping center developer. L&A led an advisory committee which brought all these interests together, resulting in a decision on a preferred alternative.
