LEED IAQ Testing (EQc3.2)

New Store Construction

GIANT FOOD STORES

L&A was contracted to perform indoor air quality testing to meet the requirements of LEED-NC EQ Credit 3.2 at the following stores: Ephrata, Flourtown, Kutztown, Havertown, Waynesboro, Lewisburg and Harrisburg. Our facility engineers performed a review of mechanical and architectural drawings, as well as submittals related to textile flooring, to identify sampling locations and confirm the parameters that must be tested to meet the requirements of this credit. The sampling approach was designed utilizing state of the art equipment and analytical procedures to evaluate the contaminants of concern – carbon monoxide, particulate matter (PM10), formaldehyde, total volatile organic compounds – as required by the LEED rating system and as detailed in subsequent Credit Interpretation Rulings. In the latter stages of construction, Lawhon collaborated with Project Team to identify and mitigate unique site challenges to ensure contaminant levels were at acceptable levels at building occupancy. Preliminary results were communicated to the client on the date of the site visit, and a comprehensive report of findings in a format suitable for direct upload to the USGBC, was generated within two weeks of completion of testing activities at each store. Five facilities successfully achieved this credit, with USGBC approval pending for the latter two.
