THE DAWES ARBORETUM
L&A assisted in the completion the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) Nomination Form for the Daweswood House and Gardens located in rural southern Licking County, Ohio. The Daweswood House and Gardens was nominated to the NRHP under Criterion B for significance in its association with Berman & Bertie Dawes, founders of the Arboretum. It was also nominated under Criterion C for its significance in landscape design and architecture. The Arboretum encompasses 1,910 acres of immaculately maintained conifer and deciduous tree collections and display gardens, featuring 4,712 different types of woody plants and 16,414 total plants. 370 acres of the Arboretum’s main grounds and buildings were included in the nomination as part of the NRHP boundary.
