CITY OF DAYTON
The project involved replacement of the historic earth-filled arch bridge on Helena Street over the Great Miami River in Dayton, Ohio. L&A was responsible for the Categorical Exclusion document and all supporting studies, including an evaluation of alternatives to replacement of the bridge. The bridge was located adjacent Island Park, the Great Miami River Recreational Trail and the Stillwater Bikeway. As a result, the project required L&A to complete Section 4(f) documentation and coordination with Five Rivers Metroparks and the Miami Conservancy District. The Stillwater Bikeway also required Section 6(f) coordination due to Land and Water Conservation Funds for its construction. Through relocation of the bikeway, a de minimis determination under Section 4(f) and sign off from the National Park Service relative to 6(f) impacts was obtained for the project without purchase of replacement property. The CE was approved April 30, 2015.
