Interstate 71 Widening

OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

The Ohio Department of Transportation, District 6, is proposing to rehabilitate and widen Interstate 71 on the south side of Columbus through three separate projects: Pickaway/Franklin County Line to SR 665, SR 665 to Stringtown Road and Stringtown Road to SR 315. L&A was responsible for completing the Categorical Exclusion (CE) for all three projects – two have received ODOT and FHWA approval and one is still in development. The necessary supporting studies varied based on the scope and environmental considerations of each segment, and included the evaluation of impacts to air quality, noise, ecological resources, cultural resources and hazardous materials. L&A also assisted ODOT with agency coordination efforts relative to compliance with Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act, Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act.
