City Hall Roof Replacement

CITY OF MARIETTA

During roof replacement activities a failure of the temporary roof system allowed uncontrolled moisture to enter the both the City Hall and the Firehouse. Lawhon was contracted by the City to perform a moisture and mold assessment of both facilities to determine the extent of the water damage and to evaluate whether this intrusion had led to the growth of mold on impacted substrates. Our scope included a visual assessment, moisture content monitoring and representative sampling for mold. Building materials with water damage, fungal growth or elevated moisture content were quantified and their location and recommended remedial action was detailed on a set of plans. Because the majority of the water damaged building materials did not exhibit fungal growth, the remediation approach was developed so that it could be completed by the General Contractor as part of the overall facility renovation project
