Building 26 Renovation

DEPARTMENT OF VETERAN’S AFFAIRS, CHILLICOTHE VAMC

The Building 26 Correct Privacy/ Safety/ Environmental Issues project involved an addition to the 1st floor and the renovation of clinical, administrative and support space on the basement, 1st floor and 2nd floor. L&A, in a subconsultant role, was contracted to provide hazardous materials assessment and design services. Our scope of work included reviewing available historical information and inspecting all areas that may be impacted by renovation or demolition activities for the presence of asbestos-containing materials and lead paint. Comprehensive reports were prepared, which included a detailed discussion of the location, type and quantity of the hazardous materials identified and an estimated cost for abatement. L&A prepared a comprehensive design package – including abatement drawings, specifications, bid documents and completion requirements – with updates at 70% design completion and 95% design completion. We are also under contract to provide technical assistance to the design team during the bidding phase.
