L&A prepared an emissions inventory for a lens manufacturing plant.
Several air emission sources were identified and it was necessary to
prepare an air emissions inventory to determine if air permit were required.
A mass balance approach based on plant knowledge was used to estimate
the air emissions from the plant. Based on the plant processes, the potential
air emissions were determined to be below 10 pounds per day from the
various processes, which are exempt from air permitting requirements.
L&A also prepared an emissions inventory for a pilot plant operation
located in Georgia to support regulatory exemptions from air permitting.
A mass balance approach based on plant production information from the
Ohio plant was used to predict the air emissions. L&A prepared the
RCRA Tank Certification and Contingency Plan for a new eyeglass lens
manufacturing plant. This new state-of-the-art plant generated one characteristically
corrosive waste stream from cleaning the finished lenses. The corrosive
waste stream was placed in a compatible tank and temporally stored for
offsite treatment and disposal. A RCRA Tank Certification and Contingency
Plan was required to operate the tank. This company was a Large Quantity
Generator (LQG) and a Contingency Plan was required to handle the waste
stream. L&A inspected the plant operation and prepared a Contingency
Plan for this installation.
