Lawhon & Associates, Inc. prepared Permits To Install (PTI) for
the Boilers and Permits to Operate (PTO) for the Paint, the Casting Reclamation
system and the gas fired boilers associated with the power plant improvements.
Four coal fired boilers that were operated under an EPA Title V permit
were replaced with two larger capacity boilers that are gas fired low
NOx designed boilers. The resulting drop in emissions allowed the facility
to apply for and receive exemption from the Title V permit requirements.
L&A worked with the client and the EPA to resolve questions, provide
test data and proper applications that resulted in the elimination of
the need for a permit.
