Private School (K-8)
L&A spearheaded a comprehensive investigation, clean-up and demolition
at a historically industrial site on which a new school will be constructed.
L&A’s Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) and included
an electromagnetometer and ground-penetrating radar (EM/GPR) survey to
search for underground storage tanks (USTs). L&A also performed a
soil ground water and arsenic background study. L&A performed an
asbestos survey, waste characterization and historical document review
to identify gas wells on the property. Remediation activities included
the removal of all asbestos-containing material, the removal of fluorescent
light fixtures and associated ballasts, cleaning out oily residue from
former vehicle maintenance pits and old vegetable oil from tanks located
in the basement of the building, and removal of polychlorinated biphenyl
(PCB) containing capacitors. Throughout the project, L&A has consistently
met client deadlines and kept the project under budget.
