Saratoga National Historic Park, New York

Lawhon & Associates, Inc. conducted a Phase I cultural resources survey for a 15’ x 12’ area where an asphalt pad for a picnic table was to be installed near the Visitor Center at the Saratoga National Historical Park, Stillwater, New York.  The Phase I provided detailed cultural resources information to the National Park Service (NPS) and the New York State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) in order to determine if significant cultural resources would be impacted by this proposed project.  The archaeological fieldwork for the proposed picnic table area consisted of shovel testing and GPS mapping of the proposed project area. The fieldwork identified no archaeological sites and one modern artifact, a United States penny, was discovered.  No artifacts, other than a 1977 US Penny and assorted modern trash, were recovered from the shovel tests and no archaeological features were encountered and demonstrated that the project was unlikely to affect significant prehistoric or historic archaeological resources.
